World Class Athletes Go for Hair Transplants

World soccer star Wayne Rooney of Manchester United and the England National Team joined a new club, but it wasn’t just for sports–unless that means “sporting” a new head of hair. The renowned striker underwent hair transplant (the same one performed by Look Natural Hair Transplants) in 2011 and again in 2013 after going bald at a relatively young age (25). He posted a picture on his Twitter, and reported he was “delighted with the result.” Rooney took time to also thank the care of the staff in London where he underwent the procedure.

Rooney isn’t the only one. American football and baseball players have had this procedure, as well. Wes Welker of the Denver Broncos has had hair transplantation and is happy to talk about it with the media. Welker’s former teammate, QB Tom Brady, has been speculated to have had the procedure, too, although he has not been as open about it. Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs is an athlete that also joins the list.

Hair transplants can be an emotional issue, and that’s why Rooney giving a nod to the staff that performed his procedure struck us.  Many image conscious athletes tend to be quiet about procedures utilized to enhance their image, especially ones performed with state-of-the-art techniques such as this one, which quickly enables natural looking results – typically in one sitting with the ability to go to work the next day.

With hair loss typically considered a sign of aging, it will be interesting to see how other athletes handle hair loss.  Now that minimally invasive procedures are available with quick recovery times, others may jump on board.  More sponsorship dollars and a different perception of age when it comes to renegotiating contracts can certainly be an incentive.  And hey, who doesn’t want to look younger?
